All Christians are called exercise stewardship of the resources that God has given them, and we are all called, especially in this Year of Mercy, to exercise both the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. (cc 222-226, 1936, 1937, 2247).
The Catholic Church, unlike other faiths, does not require that each person give a prescribed percentage of their income to the Church. (2 Corinthians 9:5-8) Rather, what Christ asks of His followers is that we give Him our hearts - and that where our treasure lies, there also lies our hearts. (Matthew 6:21)
Many people do not have a proper "Estate Plan" -- including a Will, a Durable Power-of-Attorney and Medical Directives -- which outlines their end-of-life wishes. At Salt & Light Radio, we feel it is important to help instruct our listeners on both the teachings of the Church, related to Stewardship and charitable giving, as well as providing a referral resource to qualified Catholic professionals, who can help our listeners make well-informed decisions about their end-of-life plans.
